VH Group 1

After the VC HDT, the next main production model for HDT was the VH “Group” of cars which were now offered in 3 levels of specification, with the Group 1 being the base model, followed by the Group 2 which featured a few additional modifications over the Group 1 and the full house Group 3 which was also available with the 5 litre engine.

Based on Holden’s “SS” Commodore, the VH Group 1 featured dash identification, high capacity air cleaner with chrome lid, modified suspension, heavy duty master cylinder, 70 Series Uniroyal tyres, sports steering wheel and gearknob.

There was no body or engine modofications carried out to the 4.2 litre engine. Wheels were the standard wheels as fitted to the base SS.

Like all vehicles in the VH “Group” of cars, they were initially only available in Maranello Red and later in Alabaster white. Only a small handful of Group 1’s were built as most buyers chose to opt for the full house Group 3.
