The VN Bathurst Group 3 was HDT Mark II’s second offering and was designed for the person who wanted more go and a bit less show and featured no styling cues from the Aero. The car featured a new front bar, smaller side skirts and no door moulds and a new 3 piece rear boot spoiler for a less overstated look.
Unlike the Aero, the Bathurst Group 3 was only built with the 5 litre engine which received some mild modifications, but this time the 17 inch Starform wheels were standard, while the suspension received considerable work. This car, like the Aero, also offered a range of options including a sunroof and car phone and only a handful of these cars were ever built before HDT was sold for a second time.
